Scope
The course equips educators across subjects and educational levels with practical skills to use artificial intelligence in lesson preparation, resource creation and classroom teaching. Participants learn to design engaging activities, adapt materials to learners’ needs and develop assessment and feedback resources while applying their own professional judgement.
Through guided workshops, participants progressively develop a lesson package for their own teaching context. They explore accessible AI tools, check the quality of generated content and revise it for classroom use. Critical thinking, inclusion, digital citizenship and responsible use are integrated throughout the course. Activities focus on teacher use of AI and do not require learners to create AI accounts.
ECVET points: 3.5
Target groups
- Teachers and educators in pre-primary, primary and secondary education
- Teachers and trainers in vocational education and training
- Higher education teaching staff and adult educators
- School leaders, educational coordinators and staff developing learning resources across subjects
Participants should have basic computer, browser and email skills and bring their own laptop. No previous AI experience or programming knowledge is required.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the training course, the participant is expected to:
- Identify practical uses and limitations of AI in teaching and lesson preparation
- Write and refine prompts that specify learning goals, context and the intended audience
- Evaluate AI-generated content for accuracy, bias, relevance and age appropriateness
- Develop lesson plans that connect learning outcomes, activities and assessment
- Adapt resources for different readiness levels, language needs and educational contexts
- Create engaging learning materials using selected sources, text and visuals
- Design active learning tasks, assessment questions, rubrics and draft feedback with AI support
- Apply responsible practices concerning privacy, copyright, transparency and academic integrity
- Produce and demonstrate a reviewed lesson package and plan its classroom implementation
Methodology
The training combines short demonstrations with guided practice, collaborative tasks and reflection. Participants work on a lesson from their own subject and educational level, building and improving its resources throughout the course.
- Guided practical workshops: Step-by-step activities introduce a small selection of accessible tools, including ChatGPT, MagicSchool, Canva and Gemini Notebook / NotebookLM. Participants practise specific teaching tasks and reuse familiar workflows.
- Accessible digital tools: Core activities use free features and do not require paid subscriptions. Prepared examples and templates support continued participation when usage limits or account restrictions affect access.
- Prompt development and critical review: Participants create reusable prompts, compare outputs and check factual claims, sources, language and educational suitability before using generated material.
- Differentiation and inclusion: Activities are adapted to participants’ subjects and educational levels. Teachers practise adjusting vocabulary, scaffolding and challenge while maintaining a shared learning goal.
- Responsible practice: Workshops use fictional learner profiles and student work. Participants consider privacy, copyright, bias and transparency, retaining responsibility for teaching decisions, assessment and feedback.
- Collaborative learning and microteaching: Individual work, pairs and small groups are used flexibly according to group size. Participants try out a short teaching activity, exchange feedback and revise their materials.
- Classroom application: Each participant completes a lesson package containing a lesson plan, differentiated resources, an engaging activity, an assessment resource and selected prompts, followed by an implementation plan.
